A proper late-'70s Fender student model that has long since earned cult status in its own right.

This 1978 Fender Musicmaster keeps things beautifully simple with a single pickup, straightforward controls and a lightweight, no-nonsense design that makes it an absolute joy to pick up and play. Originally aimed at beginners, these have become increasingly popular with collectors, recording musicians and players looking for something a little different from the usual Strat or Tele.

Finished in Black with a matching black pickguard, this example has all the mojo you'd hope to see from a 48-year-old Fender without crossing into abused territory. The neck feels great in the hand, the frets still have plenty of life left, and the guitar plays exactly as it should.

A cool piece of vintage Fender history that remains one of the most affordable ways into genuine CBS-era USA Fender ownership.

The finish shows the expected signs of use and ageing for a guitar approaching fifty years old, including various light marks, surface scratches and small dings throughout. There is some finish wear around the neck plate area and light checking and wear consistent with age. The hardware shows some tarnishing and oxidation, again entirely in keeping with a well-preserved late-'70s Fender.

The neck, frets and fingerboard all present very well, and the guitar remains clean, original-looking and highly presentable overall.
