A seriously good (and rare) mid-80s Les Paul Studio Standard — one of those guitars that just has it. Lightweight, resonant, and absolutely alive in the hands. This one’s a proper player, with a great slim 60s-style neck that feels fast without being too thin.
All original wiring and Tim Shaw pickups, and they’re exactly what you’d hope for — open, dynamic, and full of character. Really responsive to how you play, whether you’re backing off for cleans or pushing it into drive.
It’s had a refret at some point, which honestly just adds to it — plays beautifully and is ready for years to come.
Finish-wise, it’s got that subtle ageing you want from this era. Light lacquer checking across the body, with more visible checking on the headstock, giving it a proper vintage feel without being over the top.
Colour looks to be a classic mid-80s sunburst — very much in that “iced tea / tobacco” territory, which Gibson didn’t always formally label back then, but this sits right in that warm, faded burst range.
Comes with the original Gibson “chainsaw” hardcase.
A tough one to let go — just a brilliant, honest Les Paul.
