A genuinely special Takamine and one that very rarely turns up in this sort of condition.
 
The LTD '98 "Sun & Moon" was Takamine's limited-edition model for 1998, featuring some absolutely beautiful decorative work throughout. The centrepiece is the elaborate sun and moon themed soundhole inlay, combining contrasting woods and abalone, with matching crescent moon fingerboard inlays. Even the rosewood-faced headstock, gold hardware and amber pearloid tuner buttons add to the overall look. It's unmistakably late-'90s Takamine, and a seriously classy piece of Japanese guitar making.
 
Beyond the decoration, it's a proper high-end electro-acoustic. The natural top has some lovely figuring, while the dark rosewood back and sides are particularly striking. The cutaway gives easy access further up the neck and the guitar is fitted with Takamine's sophisticated AD-1 Acoustic DSP preamp, offering onboard EQ, reverb, feedback control, tuner and programmable presets.
 
This example is in exceptional collector-grade condition. For a guitar approaching 30 years old, it's quite remarkable. There are no notable chips, dings or knocks that we can see, with only the very slightest signs of handling visible under close inspection. The frets, hardware, finish and decorative work have all been beautifully preserved.
 
It also retains its workshop checklist identifying it as a Takamine Special Edition LTD '98, along with its fitted hard case.
